Hello everyone,
i did a test run for the jamf Class Assigner yesterday.
After going through the steps in the documentation i got the app running in teacher and student mode.
But even though the teacher ipad is assigned to a teacher user (including managed Apple ID loged in on the Teacher device) i get "Teacher not assigned to device" displayed in Class Assigner.
i built a manual class in jamf school with a user assigned as teacher and tried importing a class from ASM with teacher and student rolls defined, same error.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've just setup up Class Assigner as well and have run into the same scenario you have. From what I can tell I have both the Teacher config and Student Config setup properly. If I add Class Assigner to an already assigned student iPad, it knows it's assigned to a specific student already. An unassigned iPad asks for camera access and then is ready to scan a QR code.
I've also tried:
Reinstalling Class Assigner on the teacher device
Reassigning the Teacher to iPad
Creating a Class within Jamf School for to test Class Assigner
Creating a Class manually in Apple School Manager
My teacher, student and both of their devices are within the same Location in Jamf School. I will mention that I'm currently in the process of switching from Jamf Pro to Jamf School so I assumed it's something I'm missing because of my unfamiliarty with Jamf School, but not sure what to try next.

I'd like to know too. Class Assigner is designed to have students scan QR codes to assign the iPad to them so we dont have to run "spreadsheets" anymore. But I'm still having trouble figuring out how to do this. I am under the assumption that when students do this, the information will sync itself to Jamf School then we will have the information we need for inventory.
So far I'm at where you are at too. The classes I manually created show up in Jamf Teacher and Apple Classroom but nothing appears in Class Assigner. I am here thinking that as long as the teacher is assigned to the iPad, they should have all that info synced into the app and scanning the QR code should help fix all of the issues.

I'm still not any further, but I have verified that my teacher device is getting the proper EDU profile and it's being updated with class information which is what's required for Apple Classroom to work and I'm making a leap here...but I would it's possible that's what Class Assigner could be looking for as well to get its student roster information on the teacher device. You've essentially done the same thing just by seeing your Jamf Teacher and Apple Classroom classes on the device.

Not a fix yet, but this got my Jamf Teacher side of things working as I also couldn't figure out why Apple Classroom was getting all the data but not Jamf Teacher. I was hopeful that it would change Class Assigner as well but it doesn't look like that's the case.
I needed to change a setting for my Teacher Group(s) by selecting the group and clicking edit and change the Status setting under Features > Jamf School Teacher to Allow and this should populate all synced classes for Teachers. Mine was set to "inherit" as the default.

Funny enough i head the same idea today but no success :/
I think ill just re-built the test enviroment from 0 with this and other small fixes and see what happens.
Thanks a lot for the insight!

Thanks red_beard!
This worked! Unfortunately, I can't test a whole class as all classes were wiped last week for next year, so all current classes are showing 0 students. Once that info is synced back in, I'm going to try a full class.
I created a custom class this time and everything shows correctly.
Appreciate your help!
