Hi,
I am curious if this is something that can work, in a non-classroom setting.
Say your set of iPads are for the Elementary LMC. Obviously every student will eventually use the iPad, so its not really assigned to anyone. This set would belong to the Librarian. Is this possible without having a student assigned to the iPad, but maybe we assign the one iPad to the Librarian? (avoiding shared iPads as much as possible).
This would apply for Gym/Physical Education, Art, Music, Assistive Tech, etc. (assuming separate profiles/groups need to be created).
I know you can kind of create your own class. I tried to do that with "guest user" as the student account but I got an error when trying to join the class. I still have to explore some more options.
Thanks!

From my experience you need to have the iPad signed in as Shared iPad to a valid user or have the iPad assigned with a valid user as owner in order to use Jamf Teacher to add iPads to a class. Since Jamf Teacher you are assigning users and not devices to classes. With a non-Shared iPad we've been able to use Jamf Student to install self-serve apps even with no user as owner. For Shared iPads the guest user does not work with either Jamf Student or Jamf Teacher.

Hi, I just tested a different way today.
What I have is "All Student iPads" group, with the default normal apps. But then I created another group specifically for the iPads in the LMC with apps that I think the LMC wants. I put it as an On-Demand app, and the apps appear in the Jamf Student app without needing a user after I add the iPads into the group.
Thanks
